Every client teaches me something. In the case of my client, Elizabeth Costello-Samiee, she taught me that the best taste in design comes from a true knowledge of yourself.
As Ingrid Fetell Lee says in her book, Joyful, “the weird, quirky, awkward parts are where the surprises lie and, therefore, a great deal of joy.” Not only does Elizabeth exude joy, making design decisions from a place of self-assured intuition, but Elizabeth is unapologetic in what she likes. This made designing her bathroom fun and collaborative in the best of ways. We both came to the table with a “yes, and” attitude, and the end result is a perfectly and authentically Elizabeth bathroom that neither of us could have dreamed up alone.
I was lucky enough to partner with cinematographer, Alan Dean, to document the whole process of working together, from start to finish. See the before, during, and after of this project below!
